One of the best and most comprehensive books on bodybuilding is Franco Columbu Bodybuilder’s Nutrition Book. In this 81 page book, Franco talks about how many other diet books don’t cover everything you need as a weightlifter.
Although short, this book goes surprisingly in depth. I took the liberty of reading the book today, and let me just say it’s a goldmine.
Before I start talking about the book, I should probably make sure you know a little bit about who Franco Columbu is.
Who is Franco Columbu?
Columbu is mostly known for his body building. He’s won Mr. World, Mr. Universe, and Mr. Olympia. Those aren’t his only accomplishments though.
He has came 5th in the worlds strongest man contest, with all competitors in front of him weighing more than 100 lbs more.
Franco weighs just 185 lbs, but his bench is a whopping 525, squat is 655, and deadlift is 750 lbs. These are impressive numbers, even for somebody who doesn’t weigh under 200 pounds.
Franco Columbu Bodybuilder’s Nutrition Book Summary
This book goes crazy in depth, and I was actually pleasantly surprised. He doesn’t need a thousand pages to tell you what you need to eat to become big. (No offense Arnold).
He talks about exactly how many calories you need, how many supplements you need, effects of drugs, diets, and the science of muscles.
The book offers actual diets, complete with breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It mentions the optimal time to eat, and how to get the best performance based on metabolism.
If you’re looking for a quick read about dieting for weightlifters or body builders, this is the book for you.

First off, HOLY SH*T Those Lats! Columbu was no joke. Now where do you find his book?
The best thing about Franco’s book is the fact it’s so small. This means a lot more sites will offer it for free, as most sites offer the first 80 pages of a book for free anyway.
If you’re interested in the more fitness content, be sure to check out vekhayn.com. Franco Columbu is one of my favorite body builders, and he can become one of yours too.
You will be missed Franco, rest in peace.
